Description
Working in conjunction with Google Maps, Mission Mapquest allows you to create clues to geographic locations. Students are motivated by collecting coins and checking the leader board to see who's on top. When creating a quest, the teacher sets a password that allows her/him to access the editable version of the game's web address.
When creating a MapQuest, teachers create a question and answer and Google Maps will navigate and place a gold coin at the site. The location can be the name of a building or site in addition to cities, states and countries. The number of coins earned is determined by the amount of zoom required to see the coin; this is set by the teacher when you write the question. Students are told how much they must zoom to see the coin in the answer box and it is also indicated by the color of the text (red or green).

MapQuest: the Student Experience
Students use the web address given to them by their teacher to access their MapQuest. When entering their answers, students need to pay attention to the clues at the bottom of the answer box to see how much they need to zoom to see the coin.
