Description
Enter difficult sentences (or entire stories or chapters) into the yellow box at the top of Rewordify's home page. (You can also enter a web site URL.) Click "Rewordify text" and presto! You'll instantly see an easier version of the text (or the webpage). The reworded words are highlighted; you can click them to hear and learn the original harder word. You can also change how the highlighting works to match the way you learn: change the settings to adjust the reading difficulty level, or leave the original words unchanged while adding definitions that can be accessed by clicking on the difficult words. Additionally, you can auto generate vocabulary lists, a variety of quizzes, or other types of activities based on the text. The "intelligence" of this tool is not perfect - sometimes it misses nuances of meaning, particularly in older texts where our modern usage of the word has changed somewhat. But it does a fairly decent job - certainly well enough to be of use to struggling readers or as a tool for teachers to create scaffolded reading assignments. Another cool feature of this reading tool is that you can click on ANY word in the text to get a definition for it, not just the words that are highlighted/changed (see the sample below of "The Cask of Amontillado" to try it out.)

Rewordify Tutorial
Here is a sample to check out. This is a the "rewordified" text of "The Cask of Amontillado" by Edgar Allan Poe. Hover over the highlighted words to see the original, harder word. You can see that the intelligence, while not perfect, is certainly good enough to make this story much more accessible for a struggling reader. Also notice that you can click on ANY word in the text, highlighted or not, and get a definition.
